A Child's Hope Foundation
A charity that I would suggest supporting is A Child’s Hope Fund because I believe it is important to aid those who are less fortunate, especially when it comes to children in less-developed countries who are helpless due to their debilitating and sometimes life-threatening diseases. - Kevin

Save the Bay
As for a charity, I’ve been trying to be more environmentally friendly so I’d like to suggest the charity “Save the Bay”. This charity works with volunteers from the community, businesses, and schools to clean and preserve the bay. I think this charity is important because we should take better care of our environment and it’d be nice to start in the place we call home. - Samantha

MAY
Environmental and Energy Study Institute
I’d like to choose the Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI). I believe there are ways and developments in play today that’ll help our planet. I believe further research can be done to help create a more sustainable planet and future. With global warming being a major threat, I believe that with further research and development in more cost and energy efficient techniques, we can mitigate the effects of global warming. There’s all this talk about finding sustainable conditions for life on other planets, but why don’t we focus on saving the one we’re on first? -Tristan

JUNE
Second Harvest Food Bank
One is The Second Harvest Food Bank, I have been volunteering with them the past month. They serve to bring food for food insecure communities or vulnerable populations such as seniors or women/children in need. I’m a big advocate for healthy communities, especially in Silicon Valley. The Bay Area has evidence of health disparities everywhere. Unfortunately, in Silicon Valley, there are 1 in 4 people at risk for hunger. -Jirah

Project Pearls
Project PEARLS, they serve to provide education, food, and other necessities in poverty-stricken areas of the Philippines. Their founder is from the Bay Area and has ties with SJSU, I believe. After visiting the Philippines in summer 2018, I was overwhelmed by the environmental conditions of Tondo, Manila. This is one of the areas that Project PEARLS serves in.

AUGUST
World Villages for Children
I’ve been writing many papers related to poverty around the world. It’s something I’ve always been aware of but never had much exposure to, and as I’ve researched it more and more it has really become an issue that is important to me.
